CAPVIS - Technical Information

Principle of Operation

  1. Bowl Feeder – the components are loaded into the bowl which feeds them uniformly onto the system.
  2. Station 3 (six sided only) – The ends of the component are inspected and only allowed to proceed if predefined tolerances are met.
  3. Station 2 – The top and one side surface are inspected. Only good components are allowed to proceed.
  4. Turnover – Good components from Station 2 enter this mechanism to orientate the component correctly for final inspection.
  5. Station 1 – The remaining two surfaces are inspected. Components passing this inspection are placed in the passed component tray.

Rejects – Components that do not meet predefined tolerances are removed from the belt using an air operated reject system.

Transport Mechanism

The CAPVIS 4 system is easy to use, control of the machine being from a single switch on the operator Interface panel.

All system tolerances are password protected as are all other system critical elements

In cases where different size parts are to be inspected on a single machine, a kit is available containing parts to be changed.  Different colours and thickness’ of chip can be inspected by selecting a part code from a simple setup menu. Once a batch number has been entered in this menu, all of the batch data can be stored either locally or sent to a network connection where it is available for further analysis.

Software Interface

The systems software is built to run on the Windows 2000 platform. It has an easy to use Graphical User Interface (GUI) that allows easy set-up and operation. Operator input is provided via a mouse and the system keyboard. The screen features a real time display mode which shows the devices as they are being inspected as well as system status information.
